Covenant Transport, Chattanooga, Tenn., provides services to the continental U.S., Canada, and Mexico, specializing in expedited team freight. It offers dry van, refrigerated, and hazardous materials transportation.

The Challenge

Covenant Transport experienced challenges in control and consistency of onboarding 70+ drivers per week at their three locations. A review showed some training didn’t meet company expectations, and the scheduling of road, aptitude, and drug tests too often conflicted with classroom schedules. The company needed to track drivers’ test competencies and their orientation progress, and it sought to provide trainers with an easy-touse and consistent orientation program.

The Solution

Covenant Transport selected EBE to implement its Learning Management System (LMS). EBE’s web-based solution allows Covenant to provide the same driver onboarding program regardless of the location. Covenant trainers can embed additional third-party materials such as videos, PDF documents, and PowerPoint slides to further personalize training.

The company can develop, edit, and maintain content as well as manage drivers’ history. Automatic updates of student profiles track the drivers’ orientation and training progress. This automation allows Covenant to mitigate potential liability by providing the documents of completed courses, including detailed test results, completed materials, and the mastered training.

Today, Covenant Transport’s orientation is consistent across all locations. By streamlining the training, trainers focus on the most up-to-date information. EBE’s LMS solution provides access to training materials anywhere, anytime, and drivers can move through the orientation at their own pace with guidance from Covenant’s instructors.
